Plan to build a new soda firing kiln
In early 2021 I plan to build a new kiln which will be part gas fired, part wood fired. This will give a reduction atmosphere and a whole range of new possibilities as far as glaze effects are concerned. The new kiln will also be used for soda firings. At high temperatures soda in solution is squirted onto the surface of the pots to produce a pitted texture. Yet more variation, yet more interest.
