Building a Wood & Gas Fired Soda Kiln with Joe Finch

Description

Over the 4 days you will participate in building a wood fired soda kiln under the instruction of Joe Finch, one of the UK’s most experienced kiln builders. On the fourth day you will have the opportunity to glaze and fire 2 pots of your own in the new kiln. At the end of the course you will be able to design and build your own kiln and have learnt the rudiments of firing it to stoneware temperature.

You will also be able to view pots by Joe Finch, Tom Knowles Jackson and Sean Mills. Sean will also conduct advanced throwing classes with the opportunity for hands on practice in between kiln building stages.

We will also build and feast from a pizza oven!

Accommodation

Limited accommodation and camping space is available on site in a garden which has opened for the NGS. The course price includes breakfast, a light lunch and supper and limited alcoholic drink on a daily basis.
